General Electric Healthcare Digital X-Ray Facility Uses High Performance Precast Walls that Exceed ASHRAE Requirements
GE Healthcare Division's new 225,000 SF facility for the manufacturing of components for their digital X-Ray and MRI equipment in North Greenbush, NY is one of the first specialty Office and Class 100 Cleanroom Buildings in the U.S. to be designed as a LEED® Gold project, and the use of precast concrete high-performance wall panels and other innovative components played an important role.
Precast Concrete Segmental Bridge Replacing 75 Year Old Bridge at NJ Shore
The new precast concrete segmental bridge is replacing a functionally-obsolete and structurally-deficient 75 year old double leaf bascule bridge. Rt. 36 is the main corridor to many of NJ's eastern beaches and the national park in Sandy Hook. The new bridge will increase the vertical clearance under the bridge to 65 feet above the water, eliminating the traffic problems previously posed by the existing draw bridge.
New Lunch & Learn Approved For AIA SD HSW CreditSustainable Design using Precast Prestressed Concrete has just been approved for SD credit from AIA. Learning objectives included understanding how precast as a building material can contribute to sustainable structures. Explain LEED points as it relates to precast concrete and describe how precast can be incorporated into sustainable design strategies to achieve those LEED credits. Length - 1.0 Hour Credits - AIA SD HSW 1.0 LU PDH - 1.0 Precast Topics:
Build Boston Session CO4, Nov. 20th: Strategies for Integrated Project Design using Precast Concrete SystemsWith the growing surge of interest in Integrated Project Design (IPD) and Delivery, this session will focus on precast systems and how they can meet this demand. This session will define IPD as it relates to precast products and systems and provided the necessary information to incorporate it into future designs.
